Hand-Colored Lithographs from Naumann: "Naturgeschichte Der Voegel MittelEuropas" published in several volumes from 1822-1860. Very fine lithographs with information below the title about the size and habits of the waterfowl shown. Notice that on some of the prints is an egg of the particular species. SWAN - NEW ZEALAND "Cigne noir du Cap de Diemen" Black Swan. Cape Maria van Diemen, New Zealand Hand-colored copper etching by Louis Peree after the drawing by Jean Piron. Published in "Atlas du Voyage a la recherché de la Perouse". This search-for the-vanished-vessel expedition took place between 1791 and 1793. A French exploration ship by the name "Perouse" had vanished in the Pacific in 1788. While the search remained unsuccessful, botanists, zoologists and all kinds of other scientific researchers gathered information of all kinds. The 2-volume book was published in Paris in 1800 by Jacques-Julien Houtou de Labillardiere (1755-1834), a French biologist. Cape Maria van Diemen is the westernmost point of New Zealand Nice condition. Wide margins. Very nice han-coloring. MIMARD & BLACHON, a company focusing on the manufacture of hunting rifles and bicycles published these prints as collection to be used as a gift to their best customers. The name of the book was "Les Chiens, le Gibier et ses Ennemis" which means: "The Dogs, the Game and their Enemies". By P. Mahler. Published in Saint-Étienne, 1907. The prints do not have titles.
