This bird's eye view of Palermo is a lovely print in fine coloring. The view is over the roofs of the city across the bay toward Cape Gallo.

This print has wide margins. In the upper part of the left margin is a crease from a fold that does not affect image. The corners are a bit dirty. Overall condition is Very Good except for the fold.

Along the centerfold is light browning. In the upper left margin corner is a crease. Condition is Very Good.

Houel was highly interested in the antique world he found in the south of Italy. After a second journey there he

designed and engraved 164 folio pieces which he published in Paris between 1782 and 1787 in four volumes.

This plate bears the CLIV = 154. Minor traces of age and use in margins. Small crease in lower left margin corer.
