Leipzig. - "Grand Entry of the Allied Sovereigns into Leipsic. 19th October, 1813"

Victory celebration after the Battle of Leipzig (Napoleon's troops loosing against allies: Prussia, Russia, Austria, Sweden and others). Napoleon, after heavy losses, escaped westwards, and had, after this battle only little time until he had to resign.

Riding into Leipzig are the army commanders, lead by  Field Marshal Karl Philipp Prince Schwarzenberg.

Marvellous aquatinta in original hand coloration. Printed by Robert Bowyer.

London, dated 1816

Leipzig. - "Precipitate Flight of the French through Leipsic pursued by the Allied Armies. 19th October, 1813"

Oktober 1813

Altkoloriertes Aquatinta in hervorragender Qualität.

Bei Robert Bowyer. Datiert 1815.

Brite Margen.

High quality aquatint after the water color by Christian Gottfried Heinrich Geissler (1770-1844), who witnessed Napoleon's defeat in Leipzig and sketched the scene.

Excellent condition. Centerfold has been strengthened by paper strip enforcement.

Wide Margins.
