Anonyme Kupferradierung nach der Ansicht der Stadt, die in der "Topographie der Eydgebossschaft"

von David Herrliberger ca. 1760 erschienen ist.

Die attraktive Stadtansicht war offenbar in einem kleinformatigen französisch-sprachigen
Buch über die Schweiz veröffentlicht. Ca. 1830. Das Blatt ist deshalb mehrfach
vertikal und einmal horizontal gefaltet gewesen. Die Marge links unten, die aus buchbinderischen
Gründen (zum Zweck der Faltung) bei Drucklegungg ausgespart wurde, wurde ergänzt.

Ordentliches Exemplar der seltenen Ansicht in nahezu sehr gutem Erhaltungszustand.

mountain range belonging to France. In the foreground a couple of resting wine harvesters
and a man with a loaded donkey engaged in a conversation. In the middle ground,
approaching Vevey and Lake Geneva we see the creek called Ognona. On the lake a
few early steamships (steam ships were first used on Lac Leman (Genfer See, Lake Geneva)
in 1826, and a few sail boats. Avery pleasant view of Vevey.

Anonymous stipple copper engraving. Original hand coloring.

Trimmed to black borderline. Two light creases in upper left sky and mountains.

The print has been attached to a cardboard at the upper left and right corners.

No artist signature. No publishing details.

Reverse side has "Vevey" ink-written at bottom center

In our research about this view of Vevey we could not find any information about

this etching. It is safe to assume that this is a rare piece of graphic art.

Siegfried Mackowsky born in Dresden November 25, 1878, died in Dresden February 17, 1941.He was student of the Dresden Art Academy under R. Müller, E. Bantzer, E. Bracht and G. Kuehl. He was co-founder of artist group "1913". His paintings and woodcuts, mostly landscapes, mountains, and town views are known for their fine moody expression and exquisite color.
